Zara’s latest editorial spread has arrived, and for anyone who considers themselves a ’90s child, it may look a little familiar.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Evidently<\/a> he was a chieftain, for in certain marching formations among the green men a chieftain brings up the extreme rear of the column. As his glass swung toward us our hearts stopped in our breasts<\/span><\/strong>, and I could feel the cold sweat start from every pore in my body.<\/p>\n

And then the moonlight flooded the cave, and there before me lay my own body as it had been lying all these hours, with the eyes staring toward the open ledge and the hands resting limply upon the ground. I looked first at my lifeless clay there upon the floor of the cave and then down at myself in utter<\/span><\/span> bewilderment; for there I lay clothed, and yet here I stood but naked as at the minute of my birth.<\/p>\n

The transition had been so sudden and so unexpected that it left me for a moment forgetful of aught else than my strange metamorphosis. My first thought was, is this then death! Have I indeed passed over forever into that other life! But I could not well believe this, as I could feel my heart pounding<\/a> against my ribs from the exertion of my efforts to release<\/span><\/strong> myself from the anaesthesis which had held me. My breath was coming in quick, short gasps, cold sweat stood<\/del> out from every pore of my body, and the ancient experiment of pinching revealed the fact that I was anything other than a wraith.<\/p>\n

Again was I suddenly recalled to my immediate surroundings by a repetition of the weird moan from the depths of the cave. Naked and unarmed as I was, I had no desire to face the unseen thing<\/span><\/em> which menaced me.<\/p>\n

The secret to this look is creating a soft halo around your lip line. Start by taking your favorite lipstick, stain, or chubby lip pencil and saturating the color just on the center of your lips. Then, take your finger and blend the color over your lips as if you are rubbing.<\/p>\n

Once the color starts dissolving into your lips, drag your finger right on top of your lip\u00a0line, bleeding the color into your lip\u2014especially over your cupid’s bow. It’s like finger painting on a sensual canvas, leading to the perfect stain that will last for hours.<\/p>\n

This technique will also allow you to use those beautiful pops of color you’re always eyeing but never dare to buy<\/em>, since the method will only capture the color’s essence. My favorite three colors to use for the tragic lip are a coral red, a classic mauve, and a deep wine. The first color I used in the pictures is\u00a0YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture Vernis \u00c0 L\u00e8vres Glossy Stain\u00a0in\u00a08 Orange De Chine<\/em>\u00a0(which also made an appearance in this week’s\u00a0lip stain roundup!)\u2014the perfect orange-coral stain, but you must work quickly with blending as it sets quick. The second look is the rosy-mauve\u00a0Cl\u00e9 de Peau Beaut\u00e9 Extra Rich Lipstick\u00a0in\u00a0106.<\/em>\u00a0This creamy formula feels so heavenly on the lips and imparts the perfect “you-could-never-go-wrong” color, giving you a super-natural, yet flattering look. The third color is the\u00a0Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Train Bleu<\/em>. Swipe this vampy color dead-center on lips and give it a good rub down to\u00a0transform your mouth into a deadly weapon that kills silently.<\/p>\n
